Effective Date: 1 January 2025
Last Reviewed: June 2026
At Our Past Times, we want you to be happy with your purchase. This policy is designed to complement your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), which cannot be excluded, restricted or modified.
30-Day Return Window
For eligible items, we accept returns, exchanges and store credit requests within 30 days of the purchase date.
To be eligible for a return or exchange:
- The item must be unused.
- The item must be in its original unopened packaging.
- The item must be in saleable condition.
- Proof of purchase must be provided.
Change of Mind Returns
Changed your mind?
If the item remains unused, in its original unopened packaging and in saleable condition, it may be returned within 30 days of purchase for either:
- An exchange for another product; or
- Store credit equal to the purchase value.
We do not provide refunds for change-of-mind purchases.
Products That Cannot Be Returned Once Opened
For hygiene, safety, product integrity and resale reasons, some products cannot be returned once opened unless they are faulty, damaged, not as described or otherwise covered by Australian Consumer Law.
Examples may include:
- Teething toys and baby products
- Personal care products
- Cosmetics and beauty products
- Craft consumables and activity materials
- Food and confectionery items
- Any product where opening the packaging prevents the item from being resold as new
This restriction does not affect your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Sale and Clearance Items
Sale and clearance items may be returned where required under Australian Consumer Law.
For change-of-mind returns, sale and clearance items may only be exchanged or credited at the discretion of Our Past Times.
Special Order Products
Products specifically ordered at a customer’s request cannot be returned for change of mind.
Nothing in this section affects your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Products Not as Described
If a product differs materially from its description, packaging, sample or information provided at the time of purchase, please contact us.
Where appropriate, we may provide:
- A replacement product;
- An exchange;
- Store credit; or
- A refund where required under Australian Consumer Law.
Faulty, Damaged or Defective Products
If you discover a fault, defect or damage after opening a product, please contact us as soon as reasonably practicable after discovering the issue.
Under Australian Consumer Law, you may be entitled to a remedy if a product has a major or minor fault.
Assessment of Returned Goods
Where a fault or defect is reported, Our Past Times may inspect, test or assess the product before determining the appropriate remedy.
This assessment helps us identify whether the issue is covered under Australian Consumer Law, a manufacturer’s warranty or another applicable remedy.
Major Faults
A product is considered to have a major fault if:
- It is unsafe.
- It is significantly different from its description or sample.
- A reasonable consumer would not have purchased it had they known about the fault.
- It cannot be used for its normal purpose and cannot be repaired within a reasonable time.
Where a product has a major fault, you may choose:
- A refund;
- A replacement; or
- Compensation where applicable under Australian Consumer Law.
Minor Faults
Where a fault is not major, Our Past Times may choose to:
- Repair the product;
- Replace the product; or
- Provide another suitable remedy within a reasonable timeframe.
Manufacturer Warranties
Products covered by a manufacturer’s warranty may be returned to us for assessment and, where appropriate, forwarded to the manufacturer for repair, replacement or warranty resolution.
Manufacturer warranties are provided in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Store Credit
Store credit issued under this policy:
- Is not redeemable for cash.
- May be used towards future purchases.
- May be applied to new laybys where applicable.
- Will be recorded against the customer’s account where possible.
- Does not affect any rights available under Australian Consumer Law.
Return Shipping Costs
Customers are responsible for the cost of returning items unless the product is faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or otherwise covered by Australian Consumer Law.
Where a refund is approved due to a fault, defect or error on our part, reasonable return shipping costs will be reimbursed upon presentation of proof of postage.
